When you are staying at the Casa Verde, then dont miss a visit at the Oro Verde Wildlife Refuge just across the river. It is located on 150 hectares of land, which is mostly primary rainforest. The ride to the refuge alone is a real adventure. They also offer horseback and various wildlife watching tours!
My friend Linda runs great horseback tours in the Diamante Valley about 45 minutes drive. The valley is not only truly beautiful and authentic but also has the highest waterfalls in all of Costa Rica - the Diamante Falls. For anyone who loves the non-touristy stuff, this is highly recommended activity. Visit www.ranchotranquilo.biz for her contacts and options. Tell her that Simone sent you. We also have a house up there for rent if you want to stay the night www.thediamantecabin.com!

I first came to Costa Rica in 1998. I fell in love with the country right away for so many reasons. I have been coming, living and unfortunately never staying off and on since.
