I remember, when I used to live/work in NYC and Hong Kong consuming sites such as www.escapeartist.com. I would picture myself hopping on an airplane, working at a surf shop somewhere in the pacific and leaving all the deadlines, internal political bs, and corporate suits behind. And when the world trade towers fell, I did just that - and I have not regretted it one moment. Life full of material wants/needs, little time for the most important things (family, friends, yourself) traded in for corporate drinks/dinners where one has to say certain things but never reveal one's true self, desires. And in the meantime, life passes you by. Costa Rica has been wonderful to me. It has given me a piece of mind for a very long time. Its my little paradise and escape of the "busy world". I can only recommend to anyone to try this life out....relax for a moment, take a deep breath, let nature be the compass of your daily life, and see flowers grow, hummingbirds fly and life happen. So for all those people in front of our desk, needing an escape - come on down. Find some great information on: http://costarica.escapeartist.com/

We were delighted with our stay at the River house. We stayed for one month with three adults and two kids. It was perfect for us. It was very quiet and peaceful. Gomar and Ceceil the caretakers were such a delight and were always available to help whenever we needed it and at the same time they gave us all the privacy we needed. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. Including fresh fruit from the trees.
The house was a great design for the hot humid weather and we were able to be comfortable even without air conditioning. The cabin with the air con was a great private space for one of us who was working on a book and needing a little more cool tempratures and undisturbed space from the kids,
The pool was great and we were all in it a few times a day. The pool was kept nice and clean. We had quiet yoga sessions and meditation by the pool each morning and it was a great place to cool off in the day.
We rented a car for the first week and got our barrings and then we got around by walking, buses and taxis the rest of the time (as cars were sooo expensive to rent) Walking to town to catch the bus to the beach was only about 20 minutes and a taxi was about $3.00-$5.00 one way (depending on the driver)
We would have liked to have had WIFI as our connection with our USB with KOLBI was less then ideal connection and very slow. This was our biggest challenge at the house.
We also would have loved the house to have been more stocked with new sheets and kitchen supplies as it seemed very bare minimum. Definitly would expect a house in costa rica to come with a blender...who lives in costa rica without a daily smoothy ???
The landscaping of the place is beautiful and well kept by Gomar the caretaker with great attention to detail and open hearted JOy. We loved the feeling of the energy that was holding this land.
Some people have said that the River House reminds them of some-kind of an UFO. I agree, its design is quite unique and I love it. In regards of sky activity, you should come and visit us in dry season (mid-December - April), whereas the sky offers amazing views of the stars and moon. Life can be so good, and so simple living here. C'mon down and see for yourself :-)
River House still has some availability for santa semana ( easter week)....secure your reservation now :-)
$125 fits up to 6 persons, private 35m2 saltwater pool. more info - visit www.riverhouseuvita.com or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

I first came to Costa Rica in 1998. I fell in love with the country right away for so many reasons. I have been coming, living and unfortunately never staying off and on since.
